At first I was somewhat confused and thought the first level was a really long tutorial or so, so I just put in a song I really like (Dr. Peacook - A trip to Ireland) and god, the music and the visuals are just perfect. Never saw a game that was THAT beautiful. If you're a person who likes music and very nice visuals, you should defenitely get this game. You can make also your own scenes, which is very cool.Did I mention already that the dev is pretty chill? Well he is. :P. I developed a little pre-bed-time ritual the week after buying Polynomial 2. Putting on my VR headset, I'd fire up the game and continue the survival mode. After clearing out all but one of the slower enemies in the first wave I'd pick a direction with an interesting swirl of glittering spiral clouds pulsing in time to the music and accelerate towards it. The stardust flew by and blue comets blazed to life then fractured into fading pieces before disappearing from sight. The universe of The Polynomial 2 stretches around me and it's a peaceful, relaxing, and very pretty way to wrap up the day. Then I'd reload and blast through as many waves as possible amidst a storm of lasers and the geometrically-exploding particle remains of enemy ship-creatures, because who can resist one last torrent of neon lightshow streaming directly through the eyeballs before calling it a day?. While there isn't a lot in terms of gameplay and content yet, the game looks gorgeous and is both a visual and auditory treat. You can see more of it in my video spotlight. Love the visuals and the soundtrack, absolutely hypnotizing and soothing. Didn't realize there was a space shooter game underneath until I died. And lived. And died.10/10 would trip balls in space again.. https://youtu.be/S8hd4EU0DJAI've only played with the Screensavers mode. This is my first review and I must say, the visualizers blows me way. At first, I was just using it for my own music. The lights and colors go so well with the beats of the music. So hypnotizing, I lose myself in it. Then I realized I could set the audio options to "What you hear" and do an live DJ mix session. I invited my friends for a small party, ran the Screensavers visualizer mode and left the gamepad for anyone to have fun with it. Needless to say, they all loved it. I could only imagine what this would be like in VR. Thumbs up!!. Amazing visuals and overall fun gameplay. Such a beautiful game! Truly a work of art this game is just a joy to behold. I can just get lost in the colorful cosmos of this game.At first I thought the game was a little slow but arcade mode actually is faster paced. The different modes bring different things to the table so make sure to check them out!VR works pretty much perfectly in this game. Plenty of options for both graphics and gameplay to ensure it will work on your rig and play how you want. Dev defintitely has show a lot of care for VR, which is very refreshing. No sim sickness or performance issues at all.Honestly it's just nice to listen to the great soundtrack and just float around in VR. Turns out screensaver mode is perfect for this, with no enemies so you can just fly around and relax while taking in the wonderful sights and sounds of this work of art.If you're looking for a realistic dogfighting space sim definitely look elsewhere but if you're openminded and want a breathtakingly gorgeous universe to explore then definitely pick it up.Edit: Gotta thank the dev for reaching out to me. Brought it to my attention that arcade mode was faster paced as well that screensaver mode was actually a playable mode and not just a screensaver!. Really cool in VR. One of the most underrated music players/lightshow generators. Excellent out of the box Steam Controller and VR support (rift). Steam should bundle this game with SC because it does such a great job of showcasing how awesome touchpads and gyro can be. Comes with a nice chill OST in OGG, check the videos for the music style. You can add your own music, m3u playlists, and can be ran in pure vizualizer (non-combat) mode. The campaign is fun, then moves into survival mode wiith increasing enemy spawns. The game does a good job of teaching you how to play, and once you reach a certain level of skill it is very relaxing and zen. You're just playing your part in a procedurally generated light and music show. Life, combat, death, it is all beautiful. In VR this game runs smoothly and is wonderfully immersive, though it is limited by the VR headset's resolution and can look even better on a good display. Thankfully it is not 'look to aim'. More than worth the price in its current state, even though ongoing development appears to have reduced to bugfixes. Creator still shows up on forums. Note: To get the audio output settings to respect my rift settings, I needed to use the launch option --vr_api=1
